Practical Information

 

Location: The workshop will be held in the old building of the Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania, located at Bd. Mamaia 124, Constanta.

 

Registration:  The workshop fee is 200 RON (no meals included) or 250 RON (with three lunch meals included).  The members of the Romanian Physical Society benefit from a 50 lei reduction of the registration fee.  The fee includes the book of abstracts, the welcome party, the dinner party and the coffee breaks.  A restricted number of students from Balkan or other countries, recommended by their scientific coordinators, will benefit from some financial support (travel expenses excluded).  The fee is due on July 6, 2009.   Registration will take place in the entrance hall of the main university building and starts on Sunday, July 5, between 14:00 and 19:00 and continues Monday, July 6, between 8:00 and 9:15.  The conference secretarial desk located in the entrance hall of the main university building will be open throughout the workshop.

 

Accomodation:  The hotel rates at the beginning of July are relatively high both in Constanţa and in the summer resort of Mamaia.  Nearby the Ovidius University of Constanţa is Hotel Megalos, and within 1 km Hotel Millenium and Hotel Royal, etc.  In Mamaia we recommend Hotel Perla, located conveniently at the southern limit of the resort. If you prefer to make reservations at lower rates through the workshop secretariat or if you want to stay in the student hostel of the university please register before June 15, 2009 at ibwap@univ-ovidius.ro.

 

How to get here:

By train from Bucharest (Bucuresti Nord) to Constanta:  Train schedules can be found here.  Due to upgrade work on the railroad it takes more than 4 hours and it costs about 10 €.

By bus from Bucharest to Constanta:  A bus stop is located relatively close to Bucuresti Nord train station (Baldovin Parcalabul Street).  Schedules can be found here.  It takes about 3 1/2 hours and it costs about 12 €.

Public transportation:  From the train station take Bus 40, about 7 stops (to "Turda" but just ask about "Universitatea Ovidius").  The fare for a round trip ticket is 3 RON (~0.7 €).  Tickets for public transportation must be bought before starting the journey from most news stands.  Tickets must be validated in the bus on commencement of the journey.  Cabs    Look carefully on the door for the right fairs (~1.8 RON/km plus 1.8 RON at departure) as there may be some cab drivers willing to charge you more.  They should have meters and they can give you receipts.
